Why we exist
Somewhere along the way, it became acceptable to say things about white working-class men that would end careers if said about anyone else — and, in a string of documented cases, to act on it.
An official inquiry found the RAF unlawfully discriminated against men to hit diversity targets. Employment tribunals found Cheshire Police and Thames Valley Police unlawfully discriminated against white applicants and officers. Parliament’s own Education Committee titled its report on white working-class pupils “The forgotten”. Men are three in four suicides, and men in their early fifties — the men who’ve worked longest and complained least — carry the highest rate of all.
Backbone Britain exists to put that record in one place, keep it sourced, and turn it into two practical things: public pressure and individual redress.
What we stand for
- Equal treatment under the law. The Equality Act 2010 protects everyone. Race and sex must not decide who gets hired or promoted — whoever that helps or hurts.
- Evidence before anger. Every claim we publish links to a tribunal judgment, an official inquiry, or national statistics. If we can’t source it, we don’t say it. Where a report is contested — like the West Yorkshire “Hidden” vacancies story — we label it reported & denied, not proven.
- Redress, not resentment. Men who were unlawfully passed over have won at tribunal. Our job is to make sure the next man knows he can too — and how.
Who we are not
We are not against any ethnic group, any migrant, or anyone else’s fair treatment. Discrimination against minority applicants is real and documented too — we say so, plainly, on our Answering the Critics page. A campaign built on equal treatment collapses the moment it wants unequal treatment for anyone.
Anyone who comes to Backbone Britain looking for that will be disappointed, and shown the door.
