The RAF diversity drive that broke the law

An official Ministry of Defence inquiry found RAF recruitment targets led to unlawful positive discrimination. 161 women and ethnic-minority candidates were fast-tracked ahead of men — and the officer who refused to do it resigned.

Furlong v Cheshire Police: the tie-break that wasn't

Matthew Furlong passed every stage of Cheshire Police's recruitment — then was rejected. The tribunal found the force had directly discriminated against him as a white heterosexual man, in the first 'positive action' case of its kind.
